Crispy Chicken Tenders and Waffles

  • Waffle Ingredients
    • 6 T unsalted butter, plus more for the waffle iron (or use cooking spray for the waffle iron)
    • 2 C all-purpose flour
    • 1 T sugar
    • 1 t baking powder
    • 1 t salt
    • ½ t baking soda
    • 1 C sour cream
    • ½ C heavy cream
    • ½ C milk
    • 3 eggs (4 if the eggs are smaller in size)
  • Chicken Tenders
  • Easy Maple Aioli Ingredients
    • 1 C high quality mayonnaise
    • 2 T maple syrup
    • 1 t freshly ground black pepper
    • ½ t garlic powder

  1. Mix mayonnaise, maple syrup, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  2. Allow to sit for 10 minutes in the refrigerator to let ingredients mingle.
  3. Spread a thin layer on your waffle sections to create a delicious sandwich taste profile that takes your sandwiches to the next level.


  1. Melt butter and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix all wet ingredients except the butter.
  4. Fold wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and then, once combined, add the melted butter to the mix and stir until smooth.
  5. Spray or brush your waffle iron with butter and use about ½ cup of waffle mix per waffle. The waffles should be golden brown and delicious!
  6. Place finished waffle on cooling rack, Section waffles into “bread-sized” portions- most waffles will yield 4 sections. Use these sections like slices of bread to build your waffle sandwich.


  1. While the waffles are cooking, preheat your air fryer to 350°F.
  2. Place frozen chicken pieces in a basket in a single layer, spray with cooking spray and air fry for 8 minutes until the internal temperature is 165°F- golden brown and delicious.
  3. Once the waffles and chicken strips are cooked, assemble the sandwiches by placing 2 cooked chicken strips on top of each waffle with a healthy schmear of the maple aioli.
  4. Enjoy on the go or at the table- either way this is a recipe the whole family will ask for again and again!


Spicy Honey Sriracha Chicken Waffles:

Coat the chicken strips in a mixture of ½ cup sriracha, ½ cup honey, 2 tsp garlic and onion powder before air frying. Serve it on top of the waffles with additional honey or maple syrup for a delightful combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors.

Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese Waffles:

Toss chicken strips in buffalo sauce after air frying until crispy. Serve it on top of waffles with blue cheese crumbles for a bold and tangy flavor combination – drizzle honey for a touch of sweetness!

Maple Bacon Chicken Waffles:

Top the chicken and waffles with crispy bacon crumbles and maple syrup for a sweet and savory delight!

Honey Butter Chicken Waffles:

Mix ½ cup of unsalted butter room temperature butter with 2-3 Tbsp of honey or hot honey until combined. Top the waffles when hot and drizzle with extra honey if desired.
